I’m in the Philippines!

For the next few months we’ll be living at the Jaz Home.

A home for 36 teenage girls (ages 13-19) who are victims of sexual abuse.

After a few days of recovering from jet-lag I rejoined my team in ministry.

Let me tell you, Jesus has been showing up everywhere.

I realized I really suck at telling you all what I do.

But honestly, it is kind of difficult.

First off, I don’t know if simple words can justly portray what I experience every day.

And secondly, ministry is always changing…every day is different.

Sometimes we eat chicken feet with our new friends in the squatter village.

Sometimes we walk around with about 25 kids following in our footsteps as we stop in on different families who have won our hearts.

Sometimes we play with babies.

Sometimes we sit with people whose wrinkles tell about the hardship they’ve endured over their lifetime.

Sometimes we march around and pray until the walls of Jericho come crashing down.

Sometimes we go to Victoria’s house to visit her and her son Prince.

Sometimes we’re asked numerous times a day where the presents for Christmas are.

Usually we tell them we only have prayer and love to give.

Sometimes we get our hair cut by Ella, a man who dresses like a woman.

And sometimes we pray for him as the man of God we know he was intended to be.

Sometimes we make friends with women selling flowers.

And sometimes they offer us their children. (we politely decline)

Sometimes we renovate the pool on our property.

Sometimes we write the lies we believe about ourselves on those pool tiles…

And sometimes we smash them, setting us free.

Sometimes we go jogging with some of the girls that live at the Jaz Home.

And sometimes I proceed to lose them…(don’t worry I found them)

Sometimes we go to their basketball games.

And sometimes we get carried away and are the loudest fans there.

Sometimes random street children come up to us and demand to be held.

Sometimes they give us lice as we give them love.

Sometimes we have quiet time with Jesus and He just loves on us.

No day is similar to another.

Every experience comes with a unique story.

But that’s why God is so amazing.

He’s always giving us someone new to encounter.

He’s always challenging our comfort zones and complacency.

He’s always showing up.

In everything we do.

In all that we encounter.

And He ALWAYS brings love.
